Welcome to the Viper 640 Class The Viper 640 is a high-performance one-design sport boat. At 21 feet long and only 735 lbs, it combines the stiffness of a keelboat with the acceleration and planning abilities of a dinghy. The design mandate was "Simple, Clean and Effective". The Viper has a precise and exhilarating feel on the helm, a spacious cockpit for 3 people, strict one-design class rules and ease of launching by ramp or hoist. |

There will be Viper One Design Starts at Birthday Regatta at Arizona Yacht Club (Jan 2008) and Ol' Man of the Sea Regatta at Fort Worth Boat Club (Oct 2007).
John Riddell and Ken Davis are organizing a SW circuit for the Viper. Speaking from experience on the J/24 and J/22 Texas Circuits, circuit racing is something that works well in this part of the country (lots of lakes, a long sailing season, flat real estate). Given how easy the Viper is to trailer, we think the Viper has great potential for an active Southwest Circuit. To start the ball rolling we have organized One Design starts for the Viper at the Ol Man of the Sea Regatta at Fort Worth Boat Club on October 20/21 2007 and the Birthday Regatta at Arizona YC in January 2008. It looks like we have 5 boats for each regatta. Please contact us (see local fleet pages) if you have any interest. |
