The Corinthian Yacht Club will be hosting the Viper 640 North American Championships in conjunction with the Sperry Top Sider NOOD at Marblehead Race Week. We expect approx 20 boats. This year will be a little different to previous years' formats.......

Due to the increased numbers of Vipers, Corinthian Yacht Club have offered to manage the Viper NAs. In practical terms this means we will still get the advantage of participating in the Marblehead Race Week activities and parties. We will still be sharing the starting line with a couple of other classes. We will also still be scored as part of the NOOD regatta. However The Viper NAs will be a separate event with the Corinthian YC's "A" team race committee and a dedicated PRO for the Vipers . We will be moved to the Championship outside line. The NOOD races on Thursday will be treated as practise races for the NAs, which will run from Friday to Sunday. We will have a Viper party hosted by CYC on Friday evening. There will be seperate scoring and trophies for the Viper NAs.

The Marblehead fleet has grown by another 5 boats since the end of last season and 2 new Rondar boats are on order. We have had interest expressed in coming up to the NAs from new Viper owners from Canada, LIS, New Jersey, Annapolis, Texas, Arizona (The Desert Fleet), Georgia and Florida. This will be the largest North Americans since the class was relaunched 2 years ago.

Notice of Race for NOOD, registration form and additional information can be found here on the Sailing World website. Deadline for registration is July 11, 2007, after which there will be a $50 late fee. The NOR for NOOD constitutes a NOR for the Viper NAs with two amendments:-

1) The Viper North American championships shall be scored soley on the results of racing on Friday through Sunday.

2) At the request of the event organizers the Class Executive has waived the crew weight requirement in Para 10.1 of the Class Rules.
