Welcome to the Viper 640 Class The Viper 640 is a high-performance one-design sport boat. At 21 feet long and only 735 lbs, it combines the stiffness of a keelboat with the acceleration and planning abilities of a dinghy. The design mandate was "Simple, Clean and Effective". The Viper has a precise and exhilarating feel on the helm, a spacious cockpit for 3 people, strict one-design class rules and ease of launching by ramp or hoist. |

Some news about the growth of the class and a plug for our East Coast Winter Circuit.
Growth of North American Viper fleet -Update Some of you may have not been following the blow by blow class news on the forums. Here is an update, Rondar sold 21 boats in their first full year (2007). This included a 12 boat East Coast fleet order that Rondar recieved on 20 December. The new year has started well, with an additional new boat ordered for the Savannah fleet last week. It looks like we will go through 100 Vipers in the North American fleet some time this year. To put this in perspective, the Class Association comprised of less than 20 boats three years ago. Through a combination of finding dormant old boats and Rondar building boats, the fleet has more than tripled in 3 years and will have quintupled in 4 years. East Coast Winter Circuit We have good circuit for the 2008 winter/spring... - St Pete NOOD February 15,16,17.
- The Lake Norman One Design Keelboat Championships March 8/9.
- Charleston Race Week April 18,19,20.
- Atlanta Yacht Club Spring Open: April 26-27.
- Lake Sinclair Open: June 7-8.
The South East Viper fleet have offered to provide storage for visiting boats between the regattas at no charge. We can drive down for St Pete, drag our boats to the next location; drive or fly back without the boat, come down for ODKC, then drive down and pick up the boats after CRW. There will be a "Winter Championships" that combines the scores of all three regattas. All three are stunning locations. The sailing will be fun. Please consider coming down for some or all of these events. |
