The Viper 640 Class Association is very pleased to announce that Rondar has appointed an East Coast Representative to handle sales and service for the Viper Class. Rondar has been building out a network of regional reps to provide local service and distribution.

The new East Coast representative is someone that Viper owners have come to know and trust over the years.  Paul Zimmerman has been sailing Vipers since the class started.  He bought hull #55 in 1999. He was one of the nine founding members of the Class Association when the Class Association restarted the class in 2004. He served as the first Chair of the Class Technical Committee for four years, judiciously steering the class through transitions to a carbon mast, a keel bulb that met international standards and a new spinnaker shape.  He remains a valuable and “hands on” member of the technical committee. Paul built and tested a prototype track and car system for retrofitting to our Gnavs.  He is a regular fixture in boat parks at regattas helping class newcomers rig, tune and fix their boats.

In his business life for the last twenty years Paul’s company has been selling environmental chambers to research institutions and libraries, but for the last six years he has spent much of his spare time as a volunteer spark plug for the class travelling around the country, growing the class, hosting demos in his own boat, and organizing tuning and rigging sessions.  Paul has decided to mix business and pleasure so that he can “spend more time sailing and apply a business budget and bring a professional organization to something that I enjoy doing anyway “

Paul also writes:-   “I am here to help anyone with anything to do with Vipers.  Please use me as a resource.  Viper owners, prospective Viper owners and Viper crews can call me to chat or ask questions.  If I can’t answer the question then I probably know someone who can. I am happy to answer questions about a new boat, retrofitting a used boat, fleet building or finding spares and parts for your Viper. "

“In particular I plan on spending the Spring working my way up the Eastern seaboard, hosting demos and tuning sessions, and participating in local club racing. If any prospective or existing Viper owners would like me to host a demo or a tuning session at their club, please contact me. This is the fun part of my job and I want to be out at the clubs with the sailors as much as possible.  If any prospective owners would like to organize a Viper to race in their local fleet, one design or PHRF, then give me a call”
