Welcome to the 2009 High Sierra Regatta. This year will be our 56th year of racing on beautiful Huntington Lake. The regatta spans two weekends, the first on July 12-13, and July 19-20.

The first weekend will be made up of Centerboard Classes, with the second featuring larger Keel Boat. You can expect up to150 boats each weekend.. The number of boats each weekend is limited by the Forest Service. So as always we will be on a first come first serve basis.

The High Sierra Regatta will attract Olympic gold medalists, and national champions. The consistent winds and beautiful scenery attract sailors from all over the country.

Description

In September 1945, a group of sailing enthusiasts, with boats on the recently formed Lake Millerton, organized into a sailing club. On October of that same year, the Lake Millerton Sailing Association was born with 22 charter members.

In 1959 the Lake Millerton Sailing Association was dissolved and the Fresno Yacht Club (FYC) was formed with a membership of over 100. Today, the club is made up of primarily keel type boats, with the PHRF and San Juan 21 Fleets being the largest.

Our sailing venues, Millerton Lake and Huntington Lake are man-made lakes located about 20 minutes and 90 minutes N.E. of Fresno, CA, respectively. Racing takes place on Millerton year round, while racing at Huntington Lake in the High Sierras is restricted to summer only.
